Dr. Wilma Walker, also known as Willi, serves as our Kentucky Seniors4Kids Chair of Captains. Willi was one of the first woman to receive a doctorate in geography from the University of Kentucky. As a professor at Eastern Kentucky University, she researched and developed the school's academic aviation program. Upon retiring, Willi served as President of the Easter Kentucky University Retirees Association.

Initially skeptical about the benefits of early education, a visit to a quality pre-k classroom changed Willi's mind. On the visit, she met an eager and thriving young boy. His teacher explained that he had special needs and couldn't speak at the start of the year. In just a short time in pre-k, he was almost caught up to his peers. Willi became Kentucky Chair of Captains in 2008.
