ABOUT US

Generations United’s Seniors4Kids raises the voices of adults age 50 and older in support of policies affecting children and youth. Currently, we work with community leaders and grassroots volunteers to increase the availability of high-quality pre-kindergarten programs. Our statewide volunteer networks are active in ColoradoKentucky, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Our Goals:

  • Engage older adults as advocates on behalf of children’s issues
  • Build awareness about the roles adults age 50 and older can play in youth advocacy
  • Inspire state and local organizations to create programs that connect older adults, children, and youth

Our Activities:

  • Identify and train Captains4Kids to serve as on-the-ground advocates for children
  • Send emails, letters, and faxes or make phone calls to federal legislators in support of expanding access to quality early education
  • Visit with federal policymakers in district offices
  • Generate media stories and opinion pieces that spotlight the need for federal support of quality pre-k
  • Secure letters of support for early education from state and national older adult organizations
